Loose, collapsing, heavily distorted or load-bearing material needs a qualified assessment before movement.
Contamination or pests
Suspected mould, active pest activity, residue, unknown powder or biological contamination requires established isolation and specialist procedures.
Hazardous material
Unknown chemicals, radiation, asbestos, lead, mercury, weapons, ammunition, pressurised containers or sharp hazards are not app-guided tasks.
Emergency conditions
Fire, flood, structural damage, active leaks, electrical hazards or threats to people require the appropriate emergency plan and services.
Restricted context
Cultural, legal, privacy, rights, export or access restrictions must be handled through applicable authority and consultation.
Beyond training
If you cannot safely identify the task, equipment, support or consequence, do not improvise from an app prompt.
What Archive Lantern does not provide
Clear exclusions protect good decisions.
No treatment recipes
No cleaning, solvent use, repair, flattening, adhesive removal, mould remediation, pest treatment or material alteration instructions.
No lifting certification
No weight limits, rigging plan, structural advice, courier authorization or assurance that a route or support is safe.
No professional determination
No authenticity, provenance, ownership, valuation, insurance, legal, rights, medical, financial or cultural-authority decision.
No emergency direction
No substitute for an emergency plan, workplace procedures, local authorities, emergency services or a trained response team.
Before sharing a note
Protect people and collections.
Do not enter or export unnecessary personal, confidential, security-sensitive, culturally sensitive or legally restricted information. Follow the collection's own access controls, agreements and community protocols. When export is appropriate, choose the destination carefully and protect the file after it leaves the app.
