Help drawer

Support begins on the device.

Archive Lantern keeps its working records locally, so many common questions can be resolved through the app's Privacy Centre or Android settings.

First checks

Keep the local workspace under your control.

Confirm the app version

Open About inside the app and note the consumer name Archive Lantern and version 1.0.0 before reporting an issue.

Review local entries

Check the relevant drawer, working card and status. The publisher cannot view or restore app-private records remotely.

Export only when needed

Start export through the Privacy Centre, then choose a trusted destination in Android's system document interface.

Reset deliberately

Reset workspace, clearing app storage and uninstalling are destructive. Save any export you genuinely need first.

Common questions

Practical answers.

Does Archive Lantern need an Internet connection?

No. Its main Android features and built-in study cards work offline. Only an external source link needs another browser or compatible app and a connection chosen by the user.

Where are my working records?

They are stored in the app's private area on the Android device. The publisher does not receive them and cannot access, correct, restore or delete them remotely.

How do I remove local information?

Edit an entry, use Reset workspace in the app, clear app storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. An exported copy must be deleted separately wherever you saved it.

Is my workspace backed up?

Android backup and device transfer are disabled for this release. If you need a working copy, use the deliberate export control and protect the resulting file.

Can the app identify or value an object?

No. Working titles and observations are organisational prompts. The app does not authenticate, determine ownership or provenance, value, insure, clear rights or certify condition.

What should I do around mould, pests or unknown residue?

Stop handling, follow the collection's established procedures and seek appropriately qualified help. The app does not provide remediation or hazard instructions.

Can children use the app?

The product is intended for adult collection custodians, owners, staff and volunteers. Adults should not record unnecessary information about children in free-text fields.

Why can an external source collect browsing data?

A source opens outside Archive Lantern after your action. That browser or external site can process information under its own privacy notice; the Android app and publisher do not receive that browsing information through the app.

Before writing

Protect the details in your enquiry.

Describe the product problem without including object records or sensitive collection information. Because the app works offline, a concise device model, Android version, app version and the name of the affected drawer are usually more useful than private content.
